Life is not to be taken too seriously. Life is colorful. We are colorful. Art and fashion reflect our lives.

Creating beauty from source materials that are up-cycled and repurposed is Tuan Tran’s obsession. The artist hopes to bring fun, enjoyment, care, and intentionality to each piece.

Tuan Tran is a Vietnamese American artist based in the Bay Area whose work breathes new life into old objects that were once fated for the landfill. As an eco-friendly artist, he transforms materials that can be recycled or repurposed into contemporary, eclectic, and interactive art.

Inspired by the hundreds of years old technique of fish net weaving in Vietnam, his collection of wire sculptures and dresses are hand woven. The tiny and intricate knots guarantee durability and prevent tiny fish like cá cơm, used for fermenting fish sauce, from slipping through. The scale of his sculptures conveys a sense of being under the sea—as if one were deep in the ocean, looking up at the dancing seaweed reaching for the rays of sunlight.
